FISH OIL v OLIVE OIL
Did you know that fish oil supplements given to pregnant mothers have shown a boost in the hand-eye coordination of their babies as toddlers? According to the Science Daily, the research was based on 98 pregnant women, who were either given 4g of fish oil supplements or 4g of olive oil supplements daily from 20 weeks of pregnancy until the birth of their babies.Once the children had reached two and a half years of age, they were assessed using validated tests to measure growth and development. These included tests of language, behaviour, practical reasoning and hand-eye coordination. In all, 72 children were assessed (33 in the fish oil group and 39 in the olive oil group). There were no significant overall differences in language skills and growth between the two groups of children.
INTERESTING FOR THE MOMS (vs the CHILD)
But those whose mothers had taken fish oil supplements scored more highly on measures of receptive language (comprehension), average phrase length, and vocabulary! And children whose mothers had taken fish oil supplements scored significantly higher in hand-eye coordination than those whose mothers had taken the olive oil supplements.
However, not all omega-3 fish oil supplements are created equal. Typical fish oil contains only 30% omega-3, so look at the labels, and watch out for other ingredients especially if you’re pregnant!
One supplement, made especially for pregnancy is PharmaOmega Mom. Ultra-purified and concentrated, PharmaOmega Mom contains both the omega-3 fats necessary for a healthy pregnancy, as well as Vitamin D.The all-natural, ultra-concentrated and purified capsules, when taken with a daily vitamin, can help expectant mothers and women trying to get pregnant ensure they have a healthy pregnancy and baby.

I don’t remember paying for use of my School Lockers when I was in high school, but that was more than 15 years ago. That thought in itself is shocking to me, but that’s another story. My niece said the other day when I saw her lugging around her enormous backpack which was bursting at the seams that she can’t use the Steel Lockers at school because you need to pay for them!
Pay for them???
Well, apparently, the state no longer funds them. “Does anyone ever use them?” I had to ask. “Nope,” was all she had to say about the matter.
So basically the school has a bunch of Metal Lockers that are not being used because the school has decided that since there’s not enough for everyone, you need to pay in order to use them.
There’s got to be a better way. Maybe they can have students sharing lockers. I mean they leave their bags in the classroom anyway, I am sure they can trust one another. In fact, who would want to steal a text book, right?
I had the best soup yesterday- Fennel Soup. But I couldn’t remember what fennel looked like- only knew conceptually that it was an herb. Since I liked it so much, I had to google it which yielded much more information than I wanted so I decide to post the great medicinal properties of fennel here.

FENNEL can help when you have:
(1) excessive gas in the stomach and intestines, including indigestion, cramps, and bloating, as well as for colic in infants.
(2) bronchial spasms. Fennel relaxes bronchial passages, allowing them to open wider, it is sometimes included in asthma, bronchitis, and cough formulas.
(3) don’t have enough breast milk when nursing. Fennel’s antispasmodic activity also helps breastfed infants whose mothers drink fennel tea to be less likely to suffer from colic than other babies.
