Windburn!

Posted by: healthnut In: For Your Skin

As the very cold winds of Beijing whip around our faces, my cheeks and lips definitely are suffering from serious windburn!  What is astounding and I never expected is that the skin on my legs, which are covered by a thick pair of jeans, are also severely damaged by the cold.

I was wondering why I was having so much surface pain on my legs until we got back home and as I was changing, saw the raw skin that had erupted due to the single digit weather and incessant cold winds.  This was when I realized I didn’t have enough lotion- I’d be using one bottle a day!  I was also reminded of what my friend, a Dermatologist, said: “lotion, cream, ointment.”  That’s the order of use for severity of skin dryness.

Guess who has a huge bottle of cream and ointment next to her dresser drawer now?

I started putting this together out of frustration with the amount of misinformation being peddled. Not wanting to be someone who further spreads the same misinformation, I do hope that you will write to let me know if something I have posted is not quite right.Lastly, I also believe that both Eastern and Western medicine have their good and bad points and everyone should try to look at things with an open mind and not blindly trust (any) authority as they have their own agenda and its not necessarily for your good.
