Christmas Gift Blues

Posted by: healthnut In: Good Stuff for You

I’ve always loved Christmas, but not for the gifts. In fact, our family never celebrated Christmas with gift giving. There was never ever any exchange of gifts until we went to the US and then it became an obligatory thing because people gave you gifts and it was embarrassing not to have one ready in return. As a result, the whole season became about rushing to the store and getting something. Save for the few who really like to shop and genuinely like to give stuff to people, for the rest who just want to enjoy the season for its deeper meaning, the gift-giving is a major chore.

As I’m stuck in this cycle, I thought, instead of looking at the downside (commercialization of Christmas), just enjoy the moment and find something that everyone can really enjoy. As one of my friends is an avid photographer and is always subjecting friends to his pictures from all over the world via his tiny little camera, I decided to get him a digital picture frame for Christmas.

I soon found out that Singapore prices are not very good- neither are the choices. There are a lot of Taiwan and Chinese brands that boast this and that, but when you actually try it, the resolution isn’t that good, there’s no slot for a memory card, the stand is flimsy, no option to hang onto the wall, it was just disappointing.

So I looked online and found this: http://www.digitalframez.com/ which provides a comprehensive list (7″ to 15″ screens) with prices to match all pocket sizes. There’s nothing complicated about the photo frames so you don’t have to worry about any software issues. If you’re looking into buying something similar, check them out. Even with international shipping, they’re still cheaper (and definitely better) than the ones I’ve seen here.

I started putting this together out of frustration with the amount of misinformation being peddled. Not wanting to be someone who further spreads the same misinformation, I do hope that you will write to let me know if something I have posted is not quite right.Lastly, I also believe that both Eastern and Western medicine have their good and bad points and everyone should try to look at things with an open mind and not blindly trust (any) authority as they have their own agenda and its not necessarily for your good.
