Got Back Pain? There’s a Better Way than Drugs

lumbar_stenosis.jpgI’m a very big believer in acupuncture. I’ve seen it work on numerous occasions for muscle related ailments, including migraine headaches, incessant burping, hacking coughs, as well as digestive ailments such as constipation and other bowel syndromes. For myself, when I sprained my toe during a trek, a single visit to the acupuncturist did it after months of enduring the pain that would emanate every morning and mysteriously disappear in the afternoon.

As for chiropractors, I’ve never personally been to one but have friends that have gone for fast, effective relief from back aches and pains. Dr. Steve Minors, who specializes in helping patients with lumbar stenosis Austin (based), has a helpful website that shows what is spinal stenosis (in video form) and what chiropractors can do to relieve your back pain as an alternative to drugs. Following clinical treatment, he prescribes simple exercises to patients that may be performed at home or the workplace for complete rehabilitation.

One of the treatments, for example, is a spinal decompression where a gentle and painless procedure creates negative pressure inside the herniated disc(s), allowing them to absorb fluid and nutrients, thereby reversing the degenerative and/or desiccation process in these structures. At the same time, the process actually significantly reduces the disc bulge.

If you’ve had a good/bad experience with a chiropractor, leave a comment to let us know and learn together.

I started putting this together out of frustration with the amount of misinformation being peddled. Not wanting to be someone who further spreads the same misinformation, I do hope that you will write to let me know if something I have posted is not quite right.Lastly, I also believe that both Eastern and Western medicine have their good and bad points and everyone should try to look at things with an open mind and not blindly trust (any) authority as they have their own agenda and its not necessarily for your good.
